Something I am trying to do at Stonewall Paintball is to make sure everyone is happy with their paintball experience. I am doing that by trying to give the best customer service possible, having the best prices of any paintball field in Virginia, having the best field in the area, and having a good selection of new and used equipment to buy.
I think we are doing very well on customer service, price, and having a great field. Stonewall still needs to work on having good selection of equipment for sale. I have been trying to make sure we have the best equipment for rent, but we are still going through guns and masks that were here when the field was purchased. We have about 40 new guns, 30 new masks, 50 new tanks, and we have a bunch of new pods and packs for rent. I think we have some room to grow in the rental equipment area, but overall I think we have great stuff.
What I would like to do is have new and used equipment for sale that people can buy if they are looking at getting into the hobby of paintball. A reason to own your own gear is simple, you will take care of it and it will be the way you like it when you come out to play. A simple set up, with mask, gun, and tank will cost, at the low end, about $200. If you rent equipment from me you are paying $42. If you really like paintball and you are going to play even 5 times a year it would cost $210,the same as renting it each time.
I would like everyone know they can get the best equipment at the lowest prices at the field. For example I will have Grill masks, normally about $90, for much less at the field. Empire Axe paintball guns, normally around $500, for much less. I have a gun in stock called the Dye Rized Maxxed, it normally retails at around $350. There is another gun called the BT-4 G36 elite, that I think looks pretty cool, it is authentic looking and a woodsball marker that can shoot 15 balls per second. This one is retailing for about $350, much less at the field. I want paintball to be accessible to every budget and style of play.
I would like to help you get your first equipment for what ever style you play. One of the best purchases you can make is a good quality mask. Anyone that has played paintball knows that you cant hit what you cant see. I try to have good masks for rentals, but it is hard to keep them scratch free. If you own a good mask, prices range from $45 to over $100, you can take care of it and make sure it never gets scratched. I can get equipment from most of the paintball brands so tell your friends all over the country to contact me and I will be able to get them a great deal on anything paintball. remember do not let the prices online scare you. I can get them for much less, I just cant advertise the prices.
I bought the field back in May. This has been a great time. I have learned a great deal about the business of paintball. I have really enjoyed getting out in the woods every weekend, even if I am the only one running around.
There have been many college groups come and play. A bachelor party, many birthdays have been spent in the woods. Church groups and even an all girls group came out and had a great time.
My children have enjoyed their time at the field. We have played many games just the three of us. Both Xavier (8) and Meredith (10) have played with large groups. Xavier has bunkered about 5 people, took a shot on the leg from about 5 feet away and said it hurt a little. He still gets nervous but he still asks almost every weekend if he is coming to play paintball. Meredith is a back player and loves to shoot paint. She has a nice pink electronic gun that she shoots a lot of paint with. She loves wearing a pod pack because she will run out of paint otherwise. One of the coolest things about Meredith and paintball is she plays in a skirt.
When my wife and I where talking about buying the Big Pearl Paintball we debated if this would be something that would be good for our family. I think this is one of the better decisions for our small family. Yes, we are still in debt. Yes, I am gone almost every Saturday. I get to have fun with my kids. I am their school teacher and they see me all the time, but at school it is not the same things running around in the woods. We get to work together. They will help me clean up at the end of the day and they have helped me paint.
I did not buy a paintball field to make money. I bought a paintball field to meet people, have fun with my kids, have a place that I can look forward to on the weekends, and help others get the love of paintball like I have.
Thank you to everyone that has made this possible. Galen, Robbie, Chase, Billy, Ashley, Ron, Melvin, you are all awesome. Thank you to Elizabeth for letting me do something crazy and out of the box. Thank you to all of Stonewall's customers. With out you this would not work.
Think of something you are grateful for this holiday season. Let's be positive, happy, and especially grateful for everything we have been given.
