I started playing paintball in 1996 at a church picnic when a friend brought a .68 tippmann carbine and a tippmann pro-lite. Very nice guns, I have a fond memory of these 2 guns. The first thing all of the youth did was go out and buy their own guns. My gun choice was an Indian Creek Designs “Alley Cat”. We had everything from spyders, automags, and autocockers. I played every weekend either at a local dump or an indoor field that was about an hour drive.
I went to college in Buena Vista, VA and did not find a place to play. I would drive out into the woods and shoot at trees. There was a few fields around, but I was not able to get away from school to do much playing. When I got married in 2004, my awesome wife gave me some money from the wedding gifts to buy a new paintball gun. I bought an electronic spyder clone because I did not have enough money to buy the high end guns. I coveted the autocockers, Intimidators, and the Shocker. Maybe one day I would be able to get one. I started playing regularly about once a month on both speedball fields in Richmond, an indoor field in Charlottesville and about 5 other fields around Virginia.
One day my wife and I were having a discussion and she was complaining that I was spending too much money on paintball equipment. My comeback was “We are going to own a paintball field one day so I should buy up a bunch of stuff.” I bought a new autococker a shocker and a few other paintball guns. All of this was in 2006. 10 years later I started helping at a paintball field called “Big Pearl Paintball”. I enjoyed it so much Galen Lemmon asked that I go in business with him and buy it from the former owner who moved to Ohio.
We are having a great time and want to help others have fun running around in the woods too. It is a great team building game as well as a way to learn problem solving skills. My 10 year old daughter and 8 year old son love playing. I started playing paintball when I was 16 now I am 36. In that time I received a bachelors degree in music and a masters degree in Special Education. I have a day job as an elementary school teacher and even when I am in front of students I often think about Paintball and different games I can play. There are few people that I know that love paintball more than me. I have realized through the years that Paintball is more than just a game, it is the best way you could spend your spare time.
